1. Treatment and Prevention of Injuries and Proper Stretching
This lecture begins with identifying each attendee’s injury or problem. Discussion includes the rules for good musculoskeletal health and the rules for the appropriate treatment of chronic and acute injuries. The biomechanics of sports related injuries will be discussed as well as the options for treatment including the use of medications and conservative care. A stretching seminar follows the lecture where each attendee actively participates in learning proper stretching techniques.
2. Headaches
Survey of group for headache conditions and triggers. Discussion of the two most common forms of headache, muscle tension versus migraine. The potential causes of headaches and treatment of cervicogenic headache with out medication.
3. Treatment and Prevention of Knee Pain
Each attendee will identify the type and location of their knee pain. A brief overview of knee anatomy will be presented, which will lead into coverage of specific conditions. Appropriate treatment and various options will be detailed and then stretching and strengthening exercises will be demonstrated.
4. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Each attendee will be given the opportunity to describe their particular concern if applicable. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is defined and the appropriate diagnosis and treatment instructions are discussed. Biomechanics and risk factors such as ergonomic issues will be presented.
5. Acute and Chronic Pain Management
Attendees will have the opportunity to present their specific area of concern. The biomechanics of each area will be presented and the appropriate diagnosis and treatment guidelines given. Preventative measures in activities of daily living will be discussed.
6. Guidelines for the Injured Athlete
This lecture will present the latest guidelines to treat the injured athletes on the field for head, neck and back injuries. Presented by Dr. Jay Greenstein who represented the Chiropractic profession on the national panel that researched and published the guidelines. Perfect for coaches and trainers.
7. Stress Management
Opens with identifying each attendee’s major stressor, physical symptoms if applicable and main coping mechanism. Discussion centers around a quiz focusing on the physical and emotional effects and techniques to help manage stress and its physical manifestations.
8. Ergonomics
Begins with identifying attendees major musculoskeletal concern related to their work situation. Proper ergonomic conditions for work, home, and activities for daily living will are discussed.
9. Deskercise ™
Survey of attendees musculoskeletal concerns performed. A brief discussion of ergonomic issues is followed by active participation in a series of stretches and exercises that can be performed at the workstation. Also stretches for those that participate in a lunchtime walking or jogging program will be performed.
10. Treatment and Prevention of Low Back Pain
Each attendee will have the opportunity to identify their specific concern. The biomechanics and the different origins of lower back pain and the proper treatment guidelines will be discussed. Also identification of ergonomic issues, proper bending and lifting techniques and proper stretching will be presented.
11. Runner’s Workshop
Injury prevention and treatment as it relates to runners, walkers, and cyclists. The biomechanics of injuries experienced most often by these groups will be discussed. The importance of the feet as a contributing factor in injury will also be discussed. Preventative measures and proper stretching will be demonstrated.
