Sport and Spine Rehab Clinical Research Foundation
1. A 501-C3 has been established by our legal counsel. At present, there are three members of the Board of Directors, Dr. Tom Hyde, Dr. Angela Salcedo, Dr. Barton N. Bishop and Dr. Jay S. Greenstein. As future work grows, the Board will grow.
2. We currently have five (5) research projects underway.
- Biofreeze® Neck Pain study: Principle Investigator – Dr. Barton N. Bishop. The data collection and data analysis stages are completed. It is in manuscript development stage.
- Funhab®, Biofreeze® and Kinesio® Taping Method study: Principle Investigator – Dr. Barton N. Bishop. We have approximately 110 completed patients through this trial; Dr. Bishop will be presenting this work at the Thera-band® Research Advisory Committee (TRAC) meeting in Athens, Greece in July of 2010, and at the Kinesio® conference in Rome, Italy in June of 2010. First manuscript publication is anticipated in 2010. We have the full support of Kinesio® to continue this study to be a 5-year study.
- Washington Redskins Cheerleader study: Principle Investigator – Dr. Jay S. Greenstein. The data collection and data analysis process is complete. It is in manuscript development stage. Dr. Greenstein will be presenting this work at the Thera-band® Research Advisory Committee (TRAC) meeting in Athens, Greece in July of 2010. The manuscript will be submitted to JMPT prior to TRAC. The 2010 WRC follow up study design will also be presented at TRAC this year.
- Biofreeze® Patient Compliance study – this collaborative study with Tim Tyler, PT, ATC is in the data collection stage. This study will be presented at TRAC this year by Dr. Barton N. Bishop.
- Whiplash Associated Disorders Outcomes Using the Tri-Core® pillow study: Principle Investigator – Dr. Jay S. Greenstein. This study has received IRB approval from the University of Louisville and is in the data collection stage.
3. In Discussion with a regional School of Physical Therapy Program for Two Potential Studies
- sEMG Evaluation of Pectoralis Major Output with Three Distinct Dumbell Exercises
- sEMG Evaluation of Elastic Resistance Application to selected Gluteal Activation Exercises.
4. Research Dissemination – Our goal is to submit abstracts to as many of the major (PT, Chiropractic, multi-disciplinary ) conferences as possible. We will also be wanting our Sport and Spine Rehab doctors who are participating in the data collection process to present at these conferences. Further, 1-2 published manuscripts per year in peer-reviewed journals will be our goal.
