Low Level Laser Therapy

Laser In Use
Low Level Laser Therapy (3LT) is the use of low intensity light energy as a treatment modality. Light (Photonic) stimuli excite the body’s cells infusting them with energy, with the three primary reactions being: (1) Reduction of inflammation (2) Cell regeneration and (3) Increased blood flow. The potential applications of 3LT are almost limitless; however, 3LT has been proven to be extremely effective with musculoskeletal conditions like neck, shoulder and low back pain, patella tendonitis, Achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis, bone healing, and acute and chronic soft tissue injuries. . Low Level Laser Therapy is a noninvasive, very safe, fast and effective modality that has been proven in clinical trial to reduce pain, reduce edema and promote healing.
Pain is a rarely (if every) reported symptom of the treatment. For those who have reported a feeling, it is nothing more than a slight tingling. Occasionally, some report the feeling of drowsiness after the treatment.
Lasers vs. LED?
3LT devices use electric diodes while LEDs are inexpensive, non-focused wide range light sources. The primary difference is in performance and depth of penetration. Laser diodes penetrate working beneath the skin, LEDs do not penetrate, thus affecting the skin surface only. There are no contra-indications; however, since there are no long term evaluations on certain conditions, we do not recommend use on pregnant women or persons with a pacemaker.
